Mother (nightmare)

He can hear her weeping, she always turned on the waterworks when she wanted him to feel utterly useless. And it always worked.
"Mother, please don't cry," asks Esse - knowing full well she won't stop, knowing full well that it's just crocodile tears. It doesn't matter.
"How can you ask me to stop crying you cruel, wretched boy? After what you've done to me, breaking my heart with your thoughtlessness. Any mother would cry if she had such an impossible son - though I doubt there's any other boy that would hurt his mother like you do."
Eskil sighs as his heart sinks in his chest. "I never wanted to hurt you. I did everything to try and please you - it was never enough."
"How can you say that? You've been ruining my life from the moment you where born. You're always ungrateful and horrid, throwing away every opportunity me and your father have offered. And now..." she shakes her head, "now when your blessed father have died you've run off to god knows where and left me all alone."
"You've got Egon, mother."
"Oh but he is working so hard, and he is so successful - if you where only half the man he is Eskil. He's a good son, but you... you little failure couldn't even be bothered to stay and look after your own mother."
"I had to leave, and you are better of that way - no Eskil to get in your way or ruin your life any more. You should be happy." Eskil nods to himself. "You should be glad to be rid of me."
"Such selfishness. No wonder you're alone, all you do is take Eskil, never giving anything back."
Eskil bows his head in shame. "I'm sorry."
~ Eskil wakes with tears in his eyes.
