Learn the route between bedroom and bathroom in the dark without stumbling. Locate the nearest coffee shop. Decide which newspaper to subscribe to. Toss and turn in a bed that isn’t familiar yet. Laudanum. Buy stationery. Buy a raven. Sit in the study and contemplate what books to fill the shelves with. Finish writing a few poems. Eat breakfast in the dining room. Go out running. Try out the piano. Have the lid fall down hard on left hand. Get left hand bandaged. Soak for hours in a pine and cypress scented bath. Discuss tea with the housekeeper. Work out in the gym again favouring legs since left hand still hurts. Have lunch at a place that has terrible food and never returning there again. Order things from the Swedish importer Karin knows. Visit a bookshop. Buy a book. Read it curled up on a couch in front of the fireplace sipping a glass of rum. Listen to music on the phonograph. Play chess alone. Have a brief visit from cousin and get a house-warming gift - lots of wine. Drink lots of wine. Cry because he misses his lover. Stand on the balcony and look down at the street below. Smile. Meet people. Find a wonderful patisserie that makes wonderful chocolate cakes. Eat too many chocolate cakes. Take a walk in Tyrant’s Gardens. Avoid devils. Go out for a drink or two. Get flirted with. Blush. Leave. Sit at vanity and study himself in the mirror. Cover mirror. Nightmare. Laudanum. Drink coffee in the study. Go out running again. Get back to the house and for the first time think of it as home. Be stunned by it. Take a bath. Take a nap. Keep on being stunned for the rest of the day. Cry a little. Smile. Drink rum in the study and write a poem about home.
